What is Sin Sar Bar?

We are a Myanmar-based creative strategic communications and social change organisation. We have an extensive grassroots network of key stakeholders and unique, in-depth contextual knowledge of the situation on the ground.

What does that mean?

We  COMMUNICATE STRATEGICALLY  in order to
elicit  CREATIVE Social Change .
And we know Myanmar very well.

Hmm…what does that actually mean?

Ok, let’s break it down. We use strategic creative communications to address issues and produce a solution in the form of social change.

The Issue

Strategic and
Creative Communications

The Solution

(Social Change)

See what we mean by social change here.

How our communications are STRATEGIC is that we focus on the bigger picture of how we communicate. This means we look at 4 main things:

1

WHO we communicate to in SOCIETY
The target audience - this can be broken down into Age, Sex, Location, Ethnicity, Language Spoken (we work in dozens of Ethnic Languages) but also by role – e.g. community leaders, teachers, doctors, victims of torture, or donors.

2

WHAT is the CHANGE we want to see in society
This is the problem set, the change, or the needs we will impact. This could be Resilience, Empowerment, Awareness, Education, De-stigmatisation, or Engagement.

3

HOW we deliver the messages CREATIVELY**
Depending on the project, we can offer a wide variety of creative communication tools, such as Graphics, Cartoons, Animations, Influencer content, Chat bots, Videography, Music composition. We also have extensive links with a variety of different types of CSO and other actors in Myanmar.

4

WHERE we COMMUNICATE our messages
We will use our extensive network of grass-roots CSOs to help disseminate.
Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, TikTok, Zoom (for trainings) - Online
TV, Radio, in person events - Offline

These four aspects are strategically intertwined when we design a project; where we communicate and how we want to communicate are dependent on who we want to make do what. For example, if we want to raise awareness among youth, we would use influencers on a social media campaign. If we wanted a more in-depth change, we could have experts deliver training to a specific group.

** We are not just a creative or communications agency.

WE ARE MUCH MORE!

WE ARE MUCH MORE!

WE ARE MUCH MORE!

Unlike these organisations, research and knowledge are core to our ethos; we believe that only when you truly understand the problem can you hope to solve it, and we want to be involved in working it out. Our technical expertise is in strategic communications, and while our organisation does not have any technical specialisation in the areas we work in, we have a strong network of grassroots technical experts and CSO partners who do.

The Result:

We take your message and make engaging, relevant communications that resonates with your target audience and elicits social change.
